Years ago I went to a prayer meeting in TX called Light The Nation. It had attracted over 5,000 people from all over. I was going out to lunch with the girls, when the Lord told me to stay there and eat at the center. It was going to be expensive, but I wanted to be obedient. I was in line and the woman in front of me turned around and I saw on her name tag she was from Twisp, WA the other side of the mountain from me. I thought should I ask her to eat lunch with me? I did and she accepted, so we sat down with our meals. She started to share with me how all the churches in her area were putting together an outreach that they had food, but no clothes. She didn’t know I had been collecting clothes for those that were homeless, half of a room full of clothes. I thought to myself “I’m not giving her those clothes they are for my town, but I realized they needed them so I told her I had clothes and would bring them across the mountain to her a few weeks after I got home. I got home and began to make plans. The Lord told me to rent a 14 ft u-haul now I had clothes but not that many! But again wanting to be obedient I rented the truck and told her what day we were coming. That week the phone didn’t stop ringing with people asking me if I wanted all sorts of clothing, household goods, lamps, you name it we had everything but the kitchen sink. So we were loaded up and headed to Twisp. Suddenly, a sweet friend stops us as we were leaving. She gives me a half of roll of Baby Shower paper, its a used roll! I’m thinking I’m not going to give this to her, but she made me promise. Over the mountain we went when we arrived they were shocked to see how many things were in the back of the truck. They also showed me the place that they had rented, it looked really good. At the end of unloading I was so happy to see all things that were going to be given new homes to people who needed them. At the end I slowly pulled out the shower paper from the sack, she had given me and the woman got so excited. At first, I thought she was insulted but then she explained how one of the ladies that was involved in the ministry was having a baby and that they had bought gifts but had ran out of money for paper to wrap the gifts. So that’s when the Lord spoke to me and said “ What you consider small and insignificant when given in Love and obedience means more to me, than some grand gestures”.
